The Challenge

AGB Nielsen Media Research is the UK’s largest provider of television audience measurement (TAM) service that is widely used among media professionals, planners and marketing professionals to provide detailed insight into program ratings and audience responses. Sensitivity of data provided by the TAM system that comprises 30 countries all over the world is at the high stake, thus the company always opts for no compromise in the quality of host IT infrastructure and software solutions.

It was not until the growth of the outsourcing industry that it became possible to maintain high quality standards while remaining within the limits of always strict budgetary plans, a fact known to AGB Nielsen’s managing people. To strengthen the reliability of services while implementing new solutions became a widely praised idea that needed one remaining part to solve the puzzle – a trusted partner company.

The complexity of AGB Nielsen’s services demanded that partners were to be able to develop and deliver quality products within diversified technology framework and under tight deadlines.

The Solution

By signing a software development agreement two years ago, AGB Nielsen and Esteh engaged in long-term relationship that resulted in a number of projects, ranging from the release of tailored modules for existing solutions to all new business management tools. Technical competence of Esteh combined with near-sourcing advantages of short travel time between UK and Serbia and similarities in business culture produced desired results.

Esteh’s development strength was put to challenge while working on two major projects, due to a high quality standards imposed by AGB Nielsen but also with regard to the specified operating level as both applications were aimed for wider panel of users.

EERS application, an electronic questionnaire system is aimed at conducting and analyzing results of polls performed by interviewers either during household visits or over the phone. The client-side application, residing in interviewer’s notebook has been designed to ensure fast moving trough the questionnaire using logic controls and all the necessary data corresponding to the panel area. Its server-side counterpart deals with administration of panel-related data, allowing data management and instant updates. Produced under .net framework using C#, EERS utilized the advantages of technology by delivering a number of options while remaining less demanding for an average user.

Development of an asset management system, a solution to provide control over asset movement throughout client’s offices represents a step further in collaboration between AGB Nielsen and Esteh. A large-scale project was set to produce a reliable database system and the interface application boasting options for the comprehensive management of asset resources, from adding new asset into the system via barcodes to imposing any of variety of available actions. Real-time insights into assets’ movements within the company and control of their dependencies on location or the ownership together with reporting modules are being designed to provide responsive, secure and easy-to-use business solution. Developed on Java platform, the application will secure portability and reliability due to the choice of available resources and technologies.

The Results

Cooperation with Esteh made available additional resources for AGB Nielsen’s project management resulting in a better value to cost ratio and reflected in overall performance of company’s software engineering solutions. AGB Nielsen chair IT people recognized that the easier implementation of new technologies and faster revamping of existing solutions would stem from a partnership with experienced development team such as the one at Esteh.

The EERS application cuts the time needed to conduct an interview either in the field or over the phone and provides more options to manage various details related to the panel data. Easy navigation and logical control of each step in an interview progress create a valuable tool for interviewers thus contributing to the validity of gathered data.

Asset management system will secure a better way of asset movement and status control over the company network. Instant changes, updates and insights into the situation of asset management provide one more quality component in AGB Nielsen’s software solutions pool.
